Winter Warmers

These spices have multiple benefits for you, in addition to keeping you warmer, during these cold months.

Consider adding them to breakfast/snack puddings, baked goods, savory dishes, soups and stews.

Cardamon - anti-inflammatory and eases digestion and nourishes the spleen.

Cinnamon – helps balance blood sugar by helping to reduce serum glucose, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol, making it a great spice for those with diabetes type 2, metabolic syndrome and high LDL cholesterol levels. Note that it is also an astringent, so make sure to stay hydrated. In addition, it is also an antibacterial and helps with digestion and muscle spasms. And it can help alleviate menstrual cramping. If that’s not enough, it’s also a natural insect repellent!

Ginger – anti-inflammatory, soothes digestive distress, eases nausea. Keep ginger chews in your first aid kit for nausea, upset stomachs and motion sickness.
